Role/experience to be gained: This training aims to broaden the skills and capacity beyond the standard scope of general practice training. At completion of training, trainees will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to competently manage safe anaesthesia practice in a rural GP setting.

The aim of the outplacement at KDH is:

  • To boost the rural context during JCCA training at large metropolitan and regional hospitals in Victoria
  • To allow trainees a chance to work directly with experienced rural GPAs. The current metropolitan FANZCA-only focus provides excellent training in the discipline of anaesthesia, but lacks many of the rural-specific nuances

To produce practice-ready Victorian JCCA graduates more familiar with the responsibilities that await them as independent and safe rural GPAs
