Our Training Program

The Loddon Mallee Region has long-standing close relationships between the larger hospitals in Bendigo and Mildura and the smaller health services and GP clinics. Rural Generalism has always played an important role in the region, with specialists and GPs working together in supportive environments. Echuca Regional Health offers a blended model of both Rural Generalists and specialists working collectively and there are opportunities for shared models between health services. You will be supported within the program and mentored by both clinical and non-clinical staff to achieve your career goals.

RG1

Core rotations are completed at Echuca Regional Health (ERH). Trainees complete Emergency, General Medicine and General Surgery plus an additional two rotations to make up 47 weeks of supervised practice. The non-core rotations are RAP (Rehabilitation/Aged Care/Palliative Care) at ERH and General Practice at Echuca Moama Family Medical Practice. ERH offers a variety of educational activities for Interns, including participation in weekly protected education time, fortnightly simulation program, Grand Rounds, clinical audits, multi-disciplinary sessions, case-based presentations, and small group learning opportunities.

This pathway includes rotations to Echuca, Swan Hill and Bendigo hospitals for Anaesthetics, Obstetrics, Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine.
